“Through music, we can find connection, comfort and creativity”
Music touches us physically, emotionally, spiritually and cognitively. It has been an integral part of our culture since ancient times, freeing our imaginations and bringing us together.
Music Therapy is a chance to explore the power of music and how it might be helpful to you.
Music is a powerful, accessible way to express identity and emotion while connecting with others. Music therapy builds on this, using shared musical experiences between client and therapist as a creative alternative to traditional talking therapies.
No prior musical experience is needed for music therapy. It focuses on expression and emotional exploration with a trained therapist, rather than learning music formally, and can complement services like speech and language therapy or physiotherapy.
Music therapists must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, requiring a recognised master’s degree and adherence to professional and ethical standards.
Each session is tailored to the individual and could include:
Listening to music
Playing instruments
Songwriting
Singing familiar songs
Creating playlists
Music Technology
There is no right or wrong way to participate.
